Brijesh Patel said that Vivo had requested for transfer of rights, which was passed by the Governing Council. The transfer of these rights will also earn BCCI only Rs 440 crore.

Vivo still had two years of sponsorship left. Now after the transfer, Tata will sponsor IPL for such a period of time (two years). Vivo bought the title sponsorship for the IPL in 2018 for Rs 440 crore per annum. The deal was postponed in the IPL 2020 season due to the India-China border standoff.

Vivo had bought the IPL title sponsorship rights for Rs 2,190 crore for five years from 2018 to 2022. In 2020, Dream-11 was made the title sponsor of the IPA in place of Vivo after the tussle between India and China escalated. After this, the sponsorship rights of this league again went to Vivo in 2021. However, now the company has again decided to exit the league.
